I'm Emma. I am really pleased to meet you. Throughout my career, I have had a vast range of jobs, from working in schools, at a mental health facility to managing a women’s refuge. Along the way, I have gained a diverse range of qualifications to offer the most effective support possible to women. This includes specializing as a domestic abuse advisor, being trauma-informed, and having positive psychology coaching practices.

My approach is deeply personalized, drawing from a wide toolkit that includes therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). By using these tools, I can help women recognize their imperfectionas strengths and align their lives with their core values.

But the journey doesn't end there! I am currently delving into the intriguing realm of Forensic Psychology, pursuing my BSc. This path is not only exciting, but is also broadening my understanding of human behavior and resilience in profound ways.

My life has been a rollercoaster ride, ranging from challenging times at -5 on the psychology scale with mental health struggles like breakdowns, depression, and anxiety, to reaching highs at +5 where opportunities abound and new doors open. Between these extremes, my life has seen numerous ups and downs, bringing me back to a neutral point on the scale. Life is unpredictable, isn't it? Sometimes I've had to start over completely after facing major setbacks. These experiences have left me with scars and imperfections. However, by using the psychology tools I am sharing with you here at Kintsugi Shelter, I've gained resilience, self-assurance, self-love, and solid values, shaping a life that aligns with my beliefs.

Beyond my professional role, I am a single parent who emerged from a 14-year domestic abuse relationship, which can be tumultuous as my two youngest children face the challenging time of GCSEs. While one child is about to take exams, the other is just beginning preparations. My eldest child is in his twenties, forging his own path. I find joy in life's simple moments with my three children, living only three minutes from the moor where I often encounter moorland ponies, cows, and wild deer while walking my dog, Moose. I indulge in reading biographies and crime novels, listening to podcasts, and daily journaling for self-reflection. Lastly, there's my enthusiastic kitchen dancing, much to the annoyance of my children.

I am excited about the opportunity to connect with you and to be part of a community that encourages and uplifts each other, regardless of where we are on our individual life paths.
